The groundbreaking for 51�Թ���’s new Integrated Sciences Building was held Oct. 2 from 2-5 p.m. The event was free and open to the public. Following the groundbreaking, 51�Թ���’s College of Arts and Sciences hosted a showcase of science and technology demonstrations, along with refreshments, music and fun, on the Student Green. 51�Թ��� President Beverly Warren and James Blank, Ph.D., dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at 51�Թ���, spoke at the event.

This year's Homecoming was a fun-filled  that included the Bowman Cup 5K Race, Homecoming Parade and .

The Glenn H. Brown Liquid Crystal Institute® and the College of Arts and Sciences at 51�Թ��� hosted a 50th anniversary celebration of the institute on Friday, Sept. 25, in the Kent Student Center Kiva on the Kent Campus. The event kicked off a yearlong celebration that will culminate with the International Liquid Crystal Conference (ILCC) at the Kent Campus on July 31-Aug. 5, 2016.

The Aeronautics Department from 51�Թ���’s College of Applied Engineering, Sustainability and Technology will host its 19th Aviation Heritage Fair on Saturday, Sept. 19. The event is from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Andrew W. Paton Field at the 51�Թ��� Airport, located at 4020 Kent Road in Stow, Ohio.

The Kent Student Center, Center for Student Involvement and Intercollegiate Athletics cordially invite students, faculty and staff to enjoy a week of 51�Թ��� spirit to start the academic year. The events are meant to be fun, interactive and casual. Each day will feature some free food and giveaways. In addition, our beloved mascot, Flash, and some players, coaches and cheerleaders will be there.     

Blue and Gold Pride Days are back at 51�Թ���! 51�Թ��� faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends of the university are encouraged to promote university spirit and pride by wearing blue and gold colors. 51�Թ��� introduced Blue and Gold Pride Days last fall as a way to unite members of the university community and promote 51�Թ��� pride. The tradition continues at 51�Թ��� this fall, beginning Friday, Sept. 4, which happens to be College Colors Day, and continues through the school year.

51�Թ��� students celebrated the start of a new school year at Blastoff on Sunday, Aug. 30, on the Student Green. Blastoff is the university’s annual back-to-school celebration that occurs the day before fall classes begin. It serves as the culminating event of Welcome Weekend, a four-day orientation program that helps new students transition into the university environment.

Before the fall semester begins on Aug. 31, new students are invited to participate in Welcome Weekend, a four-day orientation program that will last from Aug. 27-30 and acclimate students to the 51�Թ��� community. The event is an opportunity for students to transition into the university environment and learn about existing academic and social opportunities at 51�Թ���.
