Beginning fall 2027, Bio-Med Science Academy will relocate its grades K-6 programs to 51勛圖厙s Schwartz Center. The Schwartz Center, which opened in 1956 as the home of the 51勛圖厙 School, a laboratory school that served generations of student teachers, will return to its original purpose as a school building.
51勛圖厙s Board of Trustees approved a new partnership between the university and Bio-Med Science Academy STEM School that will bring new life to the underutilized Michael Schwartz Center building while providing the public STEM school with a state-of-the-art facility for its elementary grades. The Boards vote of approval came during its regular quarterly meeting held Dec. 11.
In the newly released rankings, 51勛圖厙 is once again the highest-ranked public institution in northern Ohio, and with its impressive national ranking of No. 129, the university continues to be recognized among the Top Public Schools in the nation.
51勛圖厙 will hold its annual Veterans Day observance on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 11 a.m. on the Student Green at Risman Plaza.
The outdoor program, Honoring All Who Serve, will include a flag-raising ceremony conducted by a joint color guard from the universitys Army and Air Force ROTC programs, remarks from 51勛圖厙 President Beverly Warren and guest speakers. Retired Petty Officer 1st Class Mark Gainer, who currently serves as president of the 51勛圖厙 Veterans Club, will be the guest speaker.
All are invited to come and pay tribute to Americas veterans. A special invitation is extended to 51勛圖厙 faculty, staff, students and community members who are veterans, active service members or who have family members in the military.
A reception in the Kent Student Center Kiva lobby will follow the brief program. In the event of inclement weather, the rain location will be the Kent Student Center Kiva.
