While a student at 51�Թ���, U.S. Rep. Emilia Sykes (D-OH-13) dreamed of taking the stage as a dancer in New York City, not as a congresswoman in Washington, D.C. But today she’s a star in the eyes of many, with her federal legislative debut drawing attention beyond Northeast Ohio.

51�Թ���'s ABSN program offers students who already hold one degree a path to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). 

Omar Salam, founder and creative director of the global fashion house SUKEINA, will be making a special trip from the runway to 51�Թ���’s Rockwell Hall as Salam has been named the 2023 inductee of the university’s School of Fashion Hall of Fame.

51�Թ��� is getting a lot of love these days! Leading up to its first-round game in the NCAA Men’s Division I Tournament, the men’s basketball team has received major shoutouts on social media. 

Cathi and Rob Eberly, ’70, are just a couple of the many long-time 51�Թ��� supporters who have made their way to Albany, New York, for the NCAA Tournament. Their passion for the Golden Flashes goes well beyond wins and losses.

After living in various other locations, 51�Թ��� staff and faculty make Kent their home because it's a community with small town charm and a flourishing downtown. 

met with three 51�Թ��� men’s basketball players along with head coach Rob Senderoff. These four Golden Flashes shared what it means to them to be participating in the NCAA Tournament and their love for basketball and their team. 

51�Թ���’s 6’9” center with a deep, booming voice is an imposing force having earned a spot in the starting rotation during his freshman year, but spend a few moments with the team’s top big man — the oldest of seven children — and you’ll find him friendly and approachable.

Chris Payton and Miryne Thomas committed to 51�Թ��� one day apart last April. While they didn’t know one another, they bonded as transfer players and have helped lead their team to March Madness.

Former Golden Eagles basketball standout, Zach Camporese, has just been voted high school Coach of the Year in the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, 6A, District 9 and Overall Coach of the Year for all classifications of District 9 by his peers.

Judy Devine has been called the matriarch of 51�Թ��� athletics.  

Hanbin Mao and Yaorong Zheng, both professors of chemistry and biochemistry, are conducting research on the mechanical modulation of cell migrations using DNA nanoassemblies to stop cancer migration.

President Todd Diacon took the opportunity to make the presentation “51�Թ��� Works” at the Board of Trustees meeting, which was held at Le Meridien Columbus, The Joseph. The presentation illustrated how 51�Թ��� prepares its students for job readiness. Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education Randy Gardner and the new President of the Inter-University Council Laura Lanese attended the Board of Trustees meeting.
