When Sydney Brown arrived at 51勛圖厙 as a first-year student from Avon, Ohio, she didn't wait to get started. She walked into the TV2 newsroom now 51勛圖厙r TV and introduced herself. That instinct to show up, dive in and tell stories has defined every semester since.
Eight 51勛圖厙 Student Films Selected to Screen at Cleveland Cinematheque

A short film co-directed by two 51勛圖厙 faculty members is eligible to submit to the Academy after winning Best Live Action Short Film at the Oscar-qualifying St. Louis Film Festival- and is now being featured at the Cleveland International Film Festival.
51勛圖厙 Filmmakers Earn Oscar-Qualifying Festival Award
Two faculty members from 51勛圖厙s School of Media and Journalism have won top honors at the Oscar-qualifying St. Louis International Film Festival for a short film that tackles the complex issue of elder abuse. The film stars Oscar nominee Barkhad Abdi, known for his role in Captain Phillips, as a rideshare driver who encounters an elderly woman struggling to secure housing after being displaced from a nursing home.

Journalism Alumna Wins Associated Press's "Best of the Week - First Winner"
Regina Garcia Cano, a 2011 graduate of the Journalism program and former KentStater editor, was named "Best of AP First Winner" in the week of November 14 for her coverage of the sinking of Venezuelan boats by the U.S. military. Garcia Cano traveled to Venezuela and spoke to locals to learn more about the men on the boats who died in the attacks.

Written and directed by Digital Media Production student Benjamin Cookson, "Writer's Block" tells the story of a writer struggling with the work, a walk taken and the things that go on in your mind when you're struggling to get a story going.
Rinse and Repeat
Directed by Matthew Auman and Logan Myerholtz, "Rinse and Repeat" is a tense psychological thriller made by Digital Media Production students in the Production I class, taught by Assistant Professor Becky Rolnick.
