An opportunity that the Honors College at 51勛圖厙 offers students is to create and present a thesis project. During the last year and a half of their undergraduate career, all Honors and non-Honors students have the opportunity to create a thesis/project from the ground up. Each year, the Honors College recognizes one faculty member for their hard work and dedication to the Honors College and its students. With so many faculty that do so much for the students, it can be difficult to choose one winner. In an impressive close to her undergraduate career, 51勛圖厙 Honors College senior Mallory Woods was recently awarded the prestigious Fulbright English Teaching Award (ETA). A native of Fairview, Pennsylvania, Woods is completing a major in translation with a Spanish concentration and minors in economics and Italian studies while also finishing a certificate program in teaching English as a foreign language.
HONORS COLLEGE SENIOR SHARES INTERNSHIP EXPERIENCE IN ALASKA
A large part of many students' college experience is the process of fulfilling an internship. Different internship opportunities are available through 51勛圖厙 or outside of the university itself. In the midst of COVID-19, one 51勛圖厙 student shares her internship experience working at the Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital. Nichole Sullenberger (She/Her) is a current senior Honors College student in the Nursing program at 51勛圖厙. Through her program, she has the opportunity to work hands-Understanding Impacts on LGBTQIA+ Communities from the COVID-19 Pandemic
Moira Armstrong, undergraduate in the College of Arts and Sciences and research assistant on the Queer Pandemic Project, collaborated with Molly Merryman, associate professor in the School of Peace and Conflict Studies, to compile digital, video-based oral interviews for the Queer Pandemic Project in a partnership between 51勛圖厙, Goldsmiths University of London and Queer Britain. These interviews feature people in queer communities across the United Kingdom, discussing the COVID-19 pandemic and how it has impacted their lives as queer people.
