New Partnership Between 51³Ô¹ÏÍø and Bio-Med Science Academy STEM School to Bring Elementary Education Back to University’s Schwartz Center

Beginning fall 2027, Bio-Med Science Academy will relocate its grades K-6 programs to 51³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s Schwartz Center. The Schwartz Center, which opened in 1956 as the home of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø School, a laboratory school that served generations of student teachers, will return to its original purpose as a school building.

51³Ô¹ÏÍø Board of Trustees Announces Partnership With Bio-Med Science Academy

51³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s Board of Trustees approved a new partnership between the university and Bio-Med Science Academy STEM School that will bring new life to the underutilized Michael Schwartz Center building while providing the public STEM school with a state-of-the-art facility for its elementary grades. The Board’s vote of approval came during its regular quarterly meeting held Dec. 11.

Museum Receives Grant for Historic Building Energy Audit

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Museum has received an award from the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation to fund a comprehensive energy audit of its historic 1928 building, Rockwell Hall. The audit will evaluate the building’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and provide recommendations for sustainable facility improvements.

51³Ô¹ÏÍø Board of Trustees Approves Establishing Aeronautics and Engineering Schools

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Board of Trustees approved the establishment of two new schools – the School of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering – within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held June 25, 2025, on the Kent Campus.
