The streets of Kent, Ohio, will be filled with blue and gold as 51³Ô¹ÏÍø alumni, students, parents, employees and community members gather for this year’s Homecoming, with a full slate of events Oct. 20-21.

From the time he was a young child, Tom Batiuk, ’69, knew he wanted to be a cartoonist. The Funky Winkerbean creator drew inspiration for his characters and storylines from his real world, including his time at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø.

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Alumni Association Announces New Members For Its National Board of Directors
The following new members have been appointed to the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Alumni Association National Board of Directors for a three-year term, which began July 1: Jeff Guritza, of Brecksville, Ohio, is the vice president of marketing at SOPREMA USA. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø in 1994.

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø alumni family grew by nearly 1,200 new graduates as the university held its summer commencement ceremonies. The accomplishments of the Summer Class of 2023 were recognized with outdoor commencement ceremonies on Aug. 19.
New Lake Erie College President Is a 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Alumna
51³Ô¹ÏÍø alumna Jennifer N. Schuller has been named president of Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. She is the first woman to lead the institution in 75 years.
