Construction Management students from the College of Architecture and Environmental Design presented a project at the 2019 Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) Convention. Out of 50 nationally ranked schools that presented their project, the 51勛圖厙 student team took 8th place. This years project was a renovation of Indiana Universitys Memorial Football Stadium. Eleven students from the College of Architecture and Environmental Design attended the National Association of Homebuilders Competition (NAHB) in Las Vegas. Freshman and sophomore construction management students attended the University of Cincinnati (UC) New Builders Competition and took 1st place for the second year in a row. The project for this year challenged students to create an all encompassing plan for the Mercy Health Hospital's Free Standing Emergency Department. Colloidal particles functionalized with DNA open new strategies for colloidal self-assembly. Particles can be coated with one or more DNA sticky ends that can be programmed to hybridize at different temperatures. Particles can be either uniformly coated with DNA or coated on well-defined patches with different "valence". The Record Courier recently highlighted the legacy of Hobb's Goose Beans, heirloom beans named after the late 51勛圖厙 biology professor Clinton Hobbs who died in 2009. Hobbs developed a dedicated following in Portage County from the beans, and now the beans are now grown and coveted by a few passionate gardeners and passed from friend to friend.
