President, Professional Events Chair

Yomna Aladawy, a first year Egyptian Translation MA student at KSU, specializing English-Arabic Translation/Interpreting. Yomna, growing up as an empath, has always paid attention to words and the value they hold until the moment she decided to choose a career that builds on the power of words, which is why she chose to be an interpreter and translator. She aspires to help as many people as possible and bridge communication gaps across languages. In her free time, she likes to watch series and movies, game, and spend time with her loved ones.

Communications Chair

Mawade Sarr is a second year graduate student in the M.A program in Translation (French Concentration). Prior to joining KSU, he received his B.A. and M.A. in Linguistics from Université Gaston Berger de Saint-Louis in Senegal. He is passionate about languages and deeply values the power of translation to break barriers and connect people and their ideas. Mawade particularly enjoys exploring how technology can be fine-tuned to enhance communication. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games and following the humorous side of Senegalese politics.

Madelyn Scirocco is a first year graduate student pursuing an MA in Russian Translation. She started learning Russian in 2018 through the STARTALK Foreign Language Academy program at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. She has gone on to earn a BA in Russian Literature, Culture & Translation. In her free time, she likes to play with her dogs, write short stories and draw.

Anna Spagnola considers artistry and intention to define the core of her work and studies. Anna is a third year student in the M.A. program in Translation (French) and holds an M.S in Emerging Media and Technology (Applied Creative Technology) from 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. She previously received her B.S. in Digital Media Production and B.A in French. Her passions for documentary filmmaking, digital semiotics, and audiovisual translation fuel her passion for working in localization and audiovisual translation in the future. In Kentlingua, Anna serves as the Webmaster for the organization. Outside of her studies, Anna enjoys playing drum set and cajon, creative writing, and working for 51³Ô¹ÏÍø as a Residence Hall Director.

Dack Powell is an educator and translator, specializing in teaching English as a foreign language, and translates from Russian and Spanish. Dack is most interested in translation in advocacy, particular in refugee and migrant defense and alliance. (If more needed) In his free time Dack enjoys rock climbing, biking, and all things electric guitar. Dack also enjoys language learning, and is currently beginning to study Mandarin Chinese as well as working to improve his Russian to a literary level.
