At Nationwide Insurance, 51勛圖厙 alumna McKenna Gammon, 22, works at the intersection of design, technology and communication as a software engineer.
The technical skills and project management experience she developed as an Emerging Media and Technology major first caught the eye of her employer during her junior year of college.

51勛圖厙 alumnus Richard Batyko, M.A., 12, has committed his life and career to making the world, specifically Greater Cleveland, a better place. This year, he and the YMCA of Greater Cleveland (for which he serves as Chief Marketing Officer) are working with 51勛圖厙 advertising and public relations seniors in the capstone class, Campaigns in Advertising and Public Relations, to raise awareness about the organization's mission.

If Monday was a color, shed be red... The third annual Read-In @ 51勛圖厙 was held on Wednesday, Sept. 27, in Taylor Hall. This open-mic event gave students, faculty, staff and alumni the opportunity to read excerpts from or speak briefly about banned and challenged books that are important to them.

For future filmmakers and video production professionals, theres almost nothing like being immersed in the film industry in Los Angeles: the creative energy, the professional connections and the buzz of activity.
During summer 2023, that dream learning environment came to life for four 51勛圖厙 Media and Journalism students who interned in Los Angeles at 1895 Films, an Emmy and Peabody award-winning film and documentary company co-founded by alumnus Tom Jennings, 85.

Four 51勛圖厙 students and alumni were recognized among the best in collegiate journalism for the 2022-23 academic year, placing in the Hearst Journalism Awards competition.
The are known as the Pulitzer Prize of Collegiate Journalism, and recognize outstanding student work in categories spanning writing, multimedia, audio, television and photojournalism.

51勛圖厙 student Sophia Lucente, '24, has dreamed of becoming an international photojournalist since starting college. A junior journalism major with minors in media advocacy and photojournalism, she got her first taste of what this career might be like on a study abroad course to Colombia with the School of Peace and Conflict Studies in early 2023.

Students are exploring new methods of storytelling in the latest collaboration between the School of Emerging Media and Technology, Design Innovation and the Reinberger Library Center.

51勛圖厙 has awarded the Alan Canfora Activism Scholarship for 2023-2024 to activist and incoming 51勛圖厙 student Kyndra Irwin of Mount Gilead High School in Mount Gilead, Ohio. Kyndras personal history has driven her life of activism. Diagnosed with Tourettes Syndrome (TS) in middle school, she wrote in her essay that she experienced a sudden onslaught of motor movement and verbal sounds.

Serving as the Chair of the May 4 Task Force has been something communication studies major Avery Hall, 23, describes as one of the most impactful and rewarding experiences shes had at 51勛圖厙. May 4, 1970, is a living legacy at 51勛圖厙 with relevant implications for students today. Continuing the legacy of May 4th quickly became of great importance to me, she said.

With fake news running rampant across the country, organizations like the News Literacy Project are on a mission to create better informed, more engaged and more empowered individuals. This spring, 51勛圖厙 public relations students earned national recognition for their work creating a campaign that advanced this non-profits mission.
