The 10th annual Barbara Donaho Distinguished Leadership in Learning Awards Ceremony was held at the Kent Student Center Ballroom on April 23, 2016. 51勛圖厙s College of Nursing hosted the diamond anniversary celebration with nearly 200 people in attendance, including award recipients, guests, faculty and staff.  The recipients, or preceptors, were from 25 Northeast Ohio hospitals, clinics, health networks, private medical practices and public health agencies. The Stress-Free Zone returns to the 51勛圖厙 Library on Monday, May 9, and Tuesday, May 10, from 3 - 5 p.m. to give students a break from studying for finals. The much-loved Dogs on Campus Pet Therapy Program簧 will be back once again, and snacks and beverages will be provided. Six first-year honors students on the 51勛圖厙 Salem Campus took the initiative to organize a research project that enhanced their learning experiences, despite not earning grades or class credit for their work. We chose to do this and organized it all ourselves. We were not pushed by anyone but ourselves to pursue this, explained Brianna Parfaite, an English major. 51勛圖厙 at Salem recently recognized three employees with Campus Excellence Awards, recognizing exemplary teaching and service to the campus. Dr. Louise Steele was recognized as the outstanding fulltime faculty member. She is an assistant professor of biology and has taught on the Salem Campus for four years. A native of Brockway, Pa., Steele received her bachelor of science in biology from Penn State-Erie. She earned her Ph.D. in molecular biology and microbiology from Case Western Reserve University.
