If surviving cancer is not difficult enough, too often depression can follow - under certain circumstances. A new study led by Vinay K. Cheruvu, Ph.D., biostatistician in 51勛圖厙s College of Public Health, found that depression in some cancer survivors is linked to both care and financial concerns. In Cancer Today, Cheruvu says that there are ways to reach out to survivors who are depressed. Screening, ideally at the time of diagnosis, is the necessary first step, Cheruvu said. The 51勛圖厙 Museum will highlight the lively and extravagant fashions of the 1980s in an upcoming exhibit. The 1980s: An Age of Excess opens Friday, February 3 in the museums Broadbent Gallery and is co-curated by Museum Director Jean Druesedow and Victoria Haworth, a senior fashion merchandising student at 51勛圖厙's Fashion School. The Wick Poetry Center, in collaboration with the City of Kent and the university, have begun two new projects to place poetry into the heart of Kent. Each project will provide more opportunities for students and the people of Kent to be exposed to poetry in their daily lives through the use of kiosks.
