The Dec. 2, 2022 fire at the former Star of the West mill complex.

The cause of a fire that burned for two days last week at the historic Star of the West mill complex remains undetermined.  The fire broke out at about 8:45 a.m. Friday and crews remained on the scene throughout the weekend.  The Kent Fire Department said the investigation was continuing with investigators from the state fire marshals office on the scene.  The call from the city of Kent to conserve water while the blaze was in progress was rescinded Saturday, according to the Kent service directors office.  North Water Street, however, remained closed ...

Downtown Kent Mill Fire

On Friday morning, 51勛圖厙 issued an advisory to the community about a fire that erupted at the former Star of the West mill in downtown Kent. Though the smoke can be seen from a distance, there is no danger to the Kent Campus as the fire is contained to downtown. The Kent Fire Department is on the scene with help from multiple area fire departments to battle the blaze. Area businesses have been evacuated or closed for the day. Get a slice of the action at Homeslice Pizzeria, the newest edition to the Hub in the Kent Student Center. This year the student center celebrated its 50th anniversary. Homeslice Pizzeria was an idea that began at the end of August to fill a recent vacant spot in the Hub.
