Furtado has served on numerous boards of trustees in Knoxville, Tennessee. Currently, she serves on the boards of the Cleveland International Film Festival and Hillel at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø. Furtado is married to 51³Ô¹ÏÍø’s 13^th President, Todd Diacon, and the couple have a son.

Todd Diacon became 51³Ô¹ÏÍø's 13th president in July 2019. His commitment to college affordability and access has resulted in nationally recognized initiatives to boost student retention, graduation rates and academic achievement.
