Amanda Johnson, Ph.D., director of the Gerald H. Read Center for International and Intercultural Education, reports that the center recently welcomed a delegation from National Chiayi University (NCU), Taiwan, led by Yu-Hsia Lin, Ph.D., and accompanied by undergraduate students in special education.
The group explored inclusive education and literacy practice through visits to the , Barberton City Schools, and Field Local Schools. They also met with leaders in Career and Community Studies (CCS), including CCS Program Director Vonnie Michali, Ph.D., to learn how 51³Ô¹ÏÍø supports students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in postsecondary pathways.

In addition, the delegation met with Frank Sansosti, Ph.D., director of the School of Lifespan Development and Educational Sciences, for discussions on evidence-based special education and collaboration opportunities.
The visit was coordinated by Ching-I Chen, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Special Education program, who served as the group’s primary contact and organizer. A highlight of the program was a warm welcome from EHHS Interim Dean Alicia Crowe, Ph.D., who emphasized the importance of global partnerships in advancing opportunities for students with diverse learning needs.
