Wall of Fame Banquet 2014

51�Թ�� at East Liverpool recognized the academic achievements of numerous students, esteemed alumni and supporters of 51�Թ�� during its annual Wall of Fame Honors Award Banquet.

Dr. Stephen Nameth, dean of the 51�Թ�� Columbiana County campuses, welcomed the students, esteemed guests, their families and several faculty members, while emphasizing the important role each relationship plays in measuring success at a university. He also acknowledged the many first generation college students at the event, himself included, and the importance of bridging that gap.

University Libraries Honors Professor Ding

Qunxing Ding, Ph.D., associate professor of biology on the East Liverpool and Salem campuses, was celebrated as the first recipient of University Libraries' Open Educational Resources (OER) Faculty Champion Award during the Spring Faculty Club on April 15.

This recognition is University Libraries’ inaugural award designed to recognize and reward 51�Թ�� faculty who have successfully implemented OER in their courses and, in turn, are enhancing student learning and engagement while removing financial barriers to accessing class content.

Pinning Ceremony Puts ADN Graduates One Step Closer to Nursing Careers

51�Թ�� at East Liverpool held its annual nursing pinning ceremony May 7, during which 27 students were recognized for receiving degrees through the associate degree in nursing (ADN) program.

Volunteer of the Year: Kim Steele Recognized for Work at Local Federal Prison

Kim Steele wears many hats as a 51�Թ�� at Salem employee: she teaches; she advises; she coordinates; she directs.

Her titles include: coordinator and advisor for the Human Development and Family Science program; academic advisor for the Bachelor of Social Work program; and academic program director for Human Services.
