Safety Service Day Held at 51�Թ�� East Liverpool

51�Թ�� at East Liverpool recently held a Safety Service Day to promote health, wellness and safety practices. East Liverpool Police Chief John Lane, Fire Chief Bill Jones, Nursing Lab Coordinator Janet Peterson and Wellness Counselor Kathrine Vance-Righetti each shared essential safety tips and procedures.

Students, faculty and staff gathered to listen as Lane discussed best practices to survive an active shooter situation. The crowd listened intently as he shared video simulations of several of the most notable mass shootings at high schools and colleges. Jones shared fire safety information and demonstrated how to properly use a fire extinguisher. Peterson demonstrated how to administer emergency medical care and discussed the importance of knowing CPR. Vance-Righetti spoke on the stigma surrounding mental health and highlighted the need for tolerance and understanding.

Dean Denise A. Seachrist Retires after 37 Years at 51�Թ��

After nearly four decades at 51�Թ��, Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., is retiring from her role as dean and chief administrative officer of 51�Թ�� at Stark and 51�Թ�� at Salem. Her retirement on June 30, 2025, marks the conclusion of a career dedicated to education, community and the arts.

Reflecting on her time at 51�Թ��, Seachrist said, “51�Թ�� has been more than a workplace — it’s been home. The people here have shaped my career, my life and my sense of purpose. I will always carry that with me.”

Commencement ceremonies were held May 9 for the 51�Թ�� Columbiana County campuses during which degrees were awarded to graduates from the East Liverpool and Salem campuses.

Presiding over the ceremonies were Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., dean of the Salem Campus, and Bradley Bielski, Ph.D., dean of the East Liverpool Campus.
