Safety Service Day Held at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø East Liverpool

51³Ô¹ÏÍø at East Liverpool recently held a Safety Service Day to promote health, wellness and safety practices.  East Liverpool Police Chief John Lane, Fire Chief Bill Jones, Nursing Lab Coordinator Janet Peterson and Wellness Counselor Kathrine Vance-Righetti each shared essential safety tips and procedures.

Students, faculty and staff gathered to listen as Lane discussed best practices to survive an active shooter situation. The crowd listened intently as he shared video simulations of several of the most notable mass shootings at high schools and colleges. Jones shared fire safety information and demonstrated how to properly use a fire extinguisher. Peterson demonstrated how to administer emergency medical care and discussed the importance of knowing CPR. Vance-Righetti spoke on the stigma surrounding mental health and highlighted the need for tolerance and understanding.
